A Ukrainian citizen lifts weights in Baghdad’s Green Zone. He was hired to work on a construction project building villas for the Arab League annual summit, which was delayed. He is one of 27 Ukrainians, 7 Bulgarians and one person from Nepal, most of whom arrived in Baghdad in January 2011 to work in construction. They have not been paid for their work and have essentially been stranded waiting for their wages and assistance while living in an abandoned building and construction site near the Republican Palace, where Iraq’s prime minister works.
