Masha, who is HIV-positive, had her access to ARV medication disrupted. Local NGOs blamed this on corrupt government officials who demanded kickbacks from drug makers. As a result, many HIV-positive people, including Masha and her parents, were prescribed new medication that can cause problems to arise as well as be difficult to adjust to.
